Tutorial: Making a Heart-Shaped Cushion
Dear sewers, it's almost Valentine's Day and for this occasion we have decided to offer you a tutorial to help you sew a Heart-shaped Cushion.
Recommended fabrics and supplies:
- Fabric with hearts: Printed cotton from wolffabrics.com 45 x 130cm;
- Fabric with stripes: Printed cotton from wolffabrics.com 11 x 144cm;
- Synthetic fiber or other padding suitable for the cushion;
- Decorative ribbon 1.5m, if you want to sew the ribbon on both sides of the cushion, plan 3m of ribbon.
Our shop offers a large collection of fabrics. Click below to find out!
1) Download the cushion pattern for free
This pattern is drawn on an A4 sheet in real size but be careful, it does not include the margins for the seams. It is therefore necessary to add 1cm of seam allowances (surplus), except for the intermediate piece. The dimension indicated includes the margins for the seams.

2) Cut out the shapes of the cushion using the pattern
(Picture 1)
- Cut 2 pieces of fabric in the shape of a heart.
- Cut out 1 intermediate piece 11 x 144cm.
3) Assemble the heart-shaped cushion
In the same way sew the second piece in the shape of a heart on the intermediate piece (Picture 4). Next, don't forget to cut out the notches at the top of the heart pieces (Picture 5).
4) Fill the heart-shaped cushion with the synthetic fiber
Turn your project right side up through the small hole on the heart tip and fill the cushion with the synthetic fiber through this small hole (Photo 6). Finally, close the small hole by making an invisible seam by hand (Photo 7).
